God has an ongoing agenda on Earth, and it holds utmost importance in the lives of every believer as it directly involves us. His agenda revolves around humanity, as stated in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The divine agenda of God is a testament to His unfailing and unconditional love for humanity.
The world today often encourages self-centeredness and the pursuit of personal desires. But for us as believers, it isessential that we remember the importance of elevating God and His agenda above our own needs or agenda.
While it is natural to have personal aspirations and desires, it is very important for us to also maintain a kingdomperspective and mindset that acknowledges God, His word and His agenda above all else in this dying world.
God’s heart is for the salvation of people. That many be saved from sin, the consequence of sin, and the oppression of the devil through Jesus Christ.
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”, 1 Timothy 2:3-4.
Getting the lost saved and expanding His kingdom on earth is the focus of God’s agenda on earth. And as Christians, we have been entrusted with this sacred duty of taking the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the lost and get as many as possible saved.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15-16.
There are many believers today who have not yet whole-heartedly embraced God’s agenda on earth. They’re rather given and dedicated to the hustles and affairs of life.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew6:33.
Reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ should be a priority and the driving force behind all we do wherever God places us on earth today. The world and everything in it is fading away, only that which is done for the kingdom of God will last forever. So, if God’s agenda on earth is not a priority in our lives, then our love for God ought to be questioned.
As we grow in our walk with God, our in individual part in His agenda on earth gradually unfolds before us by the help of the Holy-Spirit. He gradually unveils His purpose and plan for our lives. We get to understand His overall agenda for us as believers and our individual part to play in it. Thus, as we embrace our purpose in God’s agenda, and give up our personal agenda, we begin to experience His peace, joy, rest, blessings and fulfilment in Him.
More so, our agenda as believers must be swallowed up by God’s agenda. When we make God and His Kingdom agenda on earth a priority above our personal needs, His leadings becomes clearer to us and we enjoy deeper dimensions of His grace, glory and blessings. Oftentimes, our own personal agendas are selfish and sometimes even good, but may not be God’s best for us. It is only as we genuinely walk with God that He places in our hearts our part to play in His agenda on earth.
So, trying to place our personal agenda or needs above God’s agenda will often lead to collision. We will either embrace our agenda or God’s agenda; there is no compromise on this. When we fully commit our hearts to doing God’s will on earth, fulfilling our part in His kingdom agenda on earth, there’s nothing we’ll ever need that God will withhold from us.
In Mark 8:34-36, Jesus said “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?”
In the above bible verse, Jesus is saying that if you want to follow me then you must put your personal agenda aside and fully embrace His agenda. Because His agenda on earth is critical to the eternal destination of people.
So, don’t wait until you have it all figured out before you started putting God, His word and His agenda for your life as a priority in your life. You see, God will continue to reach out to you. He will continue to teach you how to swim while
you are swimming. He’s going to teach you how to love more while you love Him and others. He’ll teach you how to forgive while you forgive. And He’ll teach you how live in perpetual victory and abundance while you are living. All you need do, is to develop an insatiable hunger for Him, follow hard after Him and let Him teach along the way.
When you prioritize God’s agenda above your own needs, your focus shifts from self-gratification to serving God, serving others and reaching out to others with the love of God in you in the name of Jesus Christ.
What does elevating God above your personal needs involve?
It involves seeking Him diligently and serving Him with all your heart.
– It involves seeking His wisdom, will, and direction in every decision-making process.
– It involves filling your soul with the knowledge of Him and of His will.
– It involves relying solely on Him alone at all times.
– It requires a willingness to surrender control to God’s will. Don’t cling tightly to your own desires and plans, fearingthat letting go will lead to disappointment or loss. Rather, release your grip and trust in God’s providence, openyourself up to His blessings and direction. This allows God to work in your life in ways you may not have anticipated, leading to a more fulfilling life in Him.
– It involves seizing every opportunity God gives you to share His love with others and expand His Kingdom on earth.
And finally, elevating God and His agenda above your personal needs is a transformative practice that’ll keep you aligned with His plans and purpose for your life. When God is highly exalted above all else in your life, you obediently live for Him and consecrate yourself to Him. And as a result, you experience greater joy, peace, grace, glory and the blessings of walking in His purpose for your life. For He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. Hallelujah!
