Using Your Unique Set of Abilities for Kingdom Expansion

Hey there, young believer! Are you ready to push out your awesomeness and make a difference in the world today? As a child of God, you have been endowed with unique gifts, talents, and abilities that set you apart from others. It’s time to discover, develop, and deploy them for the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth today!

What’s Your Superpower?

Just like the superheroes we admire, each of us has a special power that can be used to influence the world for Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, God’s word teaches us that every believer has been given a unique set of spiritual gifts, talents, and abilities. We read: “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”
So, what’s your superpower? Is it:
  • Music: Can you sing, play an instrument, or produce music that inspires and uplifts others?
  • Content Creation: Can you create or curate digital content that inspires and uplifts others?
  • Art: Are you a talented artist, graphic designer, or writer who can create content that glorifies God?
  • Leadership: Do you have a passion for leading and guiding others, whether in your church, school, or community
  • Tech: Are you a tech-savvy individual who can use your skills to create innovative solutions and spread the gospel online?

See Biblical Heroes Who Rocked Their Unique Abilities:

The Bible is filled with examples of young people who used their unique abilities to make a difference. Let’s take a look at a few:
  • David: This young shepherd used his musical talents to worship and praise God, eventually becoming a king (1 Samuel 16:14-23)
  • Josiah: At just 8 years old, Josiah became king and used his leadership abilities to reform the nation of Israel (2 Kings 22:1-2)
  • Timothy: This young disciple was mentored by the apostle Paul and used his gifts to spread the gospel and lead the church in Ephesus (1 Timothy 4:12)
So, how can you discover and develop your unique abilities? Here are some practical tips:
  • Pray and ask God to reveal your gifts and talents to you. Spend more time praying in the Spirit, studying, and meditating on God’s word.
  • Submit yourself to the leadership of the Holy-Spirit and depend on Him always. Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.
  • Always research, upskill, experiment, and try new things to discover, learn, and keep growing in your unique set of abilities that you’re passionate about under the leadership of the Holy-Spirit.
  • Find a good, godly mentor who can guide and support you in your journey.
  • Join a community of like-minded believers who can always encourage, motivate, and inspire you positively.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10.
Now that you’ve discovered your unique abilities, it’s time to use them to impact lives in ways that glorify Jesus! Here are some ways you can get involved:
  • Volunteer in your local church, parachurch, or community.
  • Share your testimony with others, either online or in person.
  • Create content that inspires and uplifts others, such as music, reels, art, writing, etc.
  • Participate in missions or outreach programs that align with your passions and gifts.
As you embark on this lifelong journey of growth and discovery, you may face challenges and obstacles. But don’t worry, God is with you all the way!
Philippians 2:13 says: “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
Here are some biblical principles to help you stay focused and overcome the challenges along the way:
  • Always trust in God’s love for you, knowing that He is working in you, on you, with you, and has a plan to prosper you (Jeremiah 29:11). Remember what 1 John 4:4 says: “Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.”.
  • Persevere in God’s word and in much prayers consistently, seeking directions, wisdom, and strength from the Holy Spirit continually (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Surround yourself with the right community of people, content, books, resources, and fellow believers who will always inspire, encourage, and motivate you all the way (Hebrews 10:24–25).
Friend, You have a unique role to play in the kingdom of God on earth today, and it’s time to get busy! Remember that your abilities are not just for personal gain but for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.
