“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” James 1:6-7.
In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says, “You can’t serve two masters at the same time.”
Today, during my personal time of fellowship with God, the Holy Spirit brought this verse to my attention, and it really stood out to me. I started to think about areas in my life where I’ve been unsure or divided in my faith. I found a few and asked God for forgiveness. I also asked Him for wisdom to help me stay focused on His Word and to always act on it quickly. So, I decided to write about it as usual because I believe it could be a blessing to someonelese out there.
I believe God wants us as believers to make decisions and face life’s challenges with Him as our only guide. He wants us to fully trust Him and always choose to believe what His Word says.
When we begin to mix our own ideas or reasoning with God’s truth, we become unstable. And it’s impossible to go in two directions at once. We have to choose one. If we try to go in two directions, we’ll end up with nothing from God.
Think about someone who tries to focus on too many things at once. They feel stressed, distracted, and end up making poor choices. When we’re double-minded, we lose focus. Our thoughts and actions get pulled in different directions, and we drift away from trusting God.
If we have both faith and doubt in our hearts, it’s like having nothing at all. Because we can’t try to figure things out on our own while also trying to follow God’s way at the same time.
You see, God wants us to take our faith walk seriously and live the way He calls us to. When we do this, we can enjoy all the blessings He already has for us.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.
The word “diligently” means to seek something with all of one’s heart, strength, and might. It implies the idea of being hard-working, attentive, busy, constant, and persistent in one’s devotion.
As God’s own people, we’re called to keep seeking God and trusting His Word constantly, knowing that our steps of faith are not wasted. God’s word should be our top priority, and we should always act on it right away.
Here are some tips to help you snap out of double-mindedness:
1. Go back to God’s Word and stand on it: Choose to believe what God says and don’t settle for less.
2. Seek God sincerely: Ask Him what He has to say about your situation and obey him.
3. Apply God’s Word to your life: Let God work in your life to bring about His best for you.
4. Ask God for wisdom: Pray for His guidance on how to handle your situation.
5. Stop focusing on human reasoning or the Physical Circumstances: Don’t focus too much on your own ideas, other people’s opinions, other alternatives or the Physical realities of things. Always choose to focus on what God’s word says and act accordingly.
6. Keep walking by faith: Trust that God is leading you and take action based on His word. Keep studying his word, meditating on his word and speaking out His Word over your situation.
Take steps of faith as He leads you on, and patiently wait for Him to work everything out for your good.

1 Peter 5:7 says to Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13.
And now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:32.
